The school occupies a site in Eirias Park overlooking the sea and surrounding headlands. The original buildings date from 1903 when it was called Colwyn Bay Grammar School. There has been considerable expansion in recent years including a purpose-built technology block, sixth-form centre and modern science laboratories. A building programme was completed in 1998, with the opening of additional classrooms and enlargements to library, restaurant and PE facilities. The school runs breakfast and Early Bird clubs; homework club and extra-curricular programme. Holds Charter mark; Schools Curriculum Award; Basic Skills Quality Mark; Investor in People status.
